Flags were flown at half-mast from sunrise to sunset Sept. 13 in recognition of Firefighters’ National Memorial Day.

The micro-surfacing work on Main Street is complete, with crews preparing to begin line painting.
Surveyors and line painters will begin preliminary road markings Thursday, with line painting scheduled to begin Friday and continue through the weekend.
Motorists and pedestrians are asked to follow posted signs and directions from crews, slow down and use extra caution while travelling through the work zone.

The fourth annual Welcome Autumn downtown market will be held Sept. 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on 3rd Avenue NE, near Creative Goods and BWorthy Bra Boutique.
The harvest-themed event will feature local vendors, food, baking, produce, meat, cheese and other fall goods, along with fall shopping, a corn roast and plenty of pumpkin spice and small-town autumn atmosphere. The Slave Lake and District Chamber of Commerce and Lakes of the North Tourism are providing updates on the event.
