Pink Shirt Day is February 28. We know this because last week all these folks showed up at The Leader office to thank the local forest products mills for supporting Pink Shirt Day. Vanderwell, West Fraser and Tolko pooled their donations to contribute $5,000 to the Friends For Learning Society (FFLS) to buy pink tee shirts. These are being sold at various locations in Slave Lake, with the money going to the FFLS for its efforts in support of programs at Slave Lake’s public schools. Pink Shirt Day is about taking a stand against bullying.
Pictured left to right in the back row are Laura Ross of Vanderwell Contractors, Mona Chapates of Tolko Industries, Danny Peterson of West Fraser and Monica Edwards of the Friends For Learning Society. In front, the tee shirt models are Beckett Craney, Summer Edwards and Tyler Edwards.
Pink tee shirts are available for purchase at Appara Shoes, Distractions, Random Thoughtz, Grateful Heart and the pro shop at the MRC.
