Three new faces in Icedogs’ dressing room

The Slave Lake Icedogs have acquired three new players. New head coach Dave Hyrsky is no doubt hoping they will improve the club in its stretch run, resulting in a playoff berth.

The three newcomers are goalie Gage Philippon, forward Jase Larry and defenceman Doug Maughan. Philippon and Maughan are from Edmonton. Larry is from Lac La Biche.

Maughan and Philippon both previously played for the Edmonton Eagles of the WSHL. Larry played his minor hockey in Lac La Biche. After that, details on him are bit hard to find online. But he was definitely playing for the Lac La Biche U18 team in 2018.

Also new in the Icedogs’ camp is Jamond Cardinal, who is serving as goalie coach. He’s from Slave Lake, says Icedogs’ GM Lauren Barr, and formerly patrolled the crease for the University of Alberta Golden Bears.
