Toques and tampons needed

Every woman knows the battle she faces each month. Fortunately most of us are in a good enough financial situation that we can purchase hygiene products. However, for some ladies in less typical circumstances, finding a week’s supply of tampons or pads is an uphill challenge.
Luckily, there is a campaign called ‘Toques and Tampons’ currently up and running for Slave Lake and Grande Prairie. Organizer Tracy Persson had this to say.
“I am so overwhelmed with the quick response and so much support for this event!” she writes in the online campaign description. “Originally, I created this on my private Facebook page, sending it out to a few friends, but because I cannot change that one from private to public – I have decided to post the event here and open it up to everyone.”
Persson adds, “Winter is coming soon and battling the cold homeless is a challenge; battling the cold homeless and with the problem of a monthly period and no products is so much worse. Let’s help them keep some dignity by providing personal hygiene products such as pads, tampons, wipes, and a warm hat and or mittens.”
Drop-off locations in Slave Lake include Magic Scissors and SL Ford. For more information visit
