This just in from Town communications co-ordinator Chris Brown: “The Town of Slave Lake is looking forward to the first, of many, successful downtown block parties put on by the Chamber of Commerce on July 7th.”
This means that the Slave Lake and District Chamber of Commerce can go ahead with its ‘blast from the past’ themed event.
“To ensure the safety of residents during the block party, the Town will be barricading Main Street and parts of 4th Ave. NW, 3rd Ave. NW and 3rd Ave. NE starting at 6:00 a.m. on July 7th,” says Brown. “Businesses will be open during this time and vendors will be setting up for the block party which happens immediately after the parade.”
Brown adds, “This year’s parade will take place on July 7th starting at 6:30 p.m. and administration encourages residents to visit the downtown core during the Riverboat Daze parade.”

Downtown map with barricades indicated by oblong ovals. It amounts to about a block-and-a-half of Main St. being blocked off.
