Understanding Ramadan

Hicham Kamar and Susan Al-Mais with lanterns made at a Ramadan event at the Slave Lake Library. They are part of the Slave Lake Muslim community. Al-Mais is the program coordinator at the libary. Kamar volunteered at the event. On March 23 from noon to 3 p.m., 138 staff and students from EG Wahlstrom Elementary school went to the library to learn about Ramadan, which is a Muslim time of fasting.
In 2023, Ramadan runs from March 23 to April 21. Another Ramadan event is planned for April 19 at the library. These are part of a series of cultural events put on by the library, local cultural groups, and Slave Lake and Area Mental Health Network.
