United Way has some COVID cash to donate

Some new federal dollars are available for charitable projects or groups via the United Way. Local UW rep Gail Ungstad tells The Leader the feds have pledged $350 million “for COVID-related activities.”

This is across the whole country.

There is specific funding, Ungstad says, for seniors – for example for personal protective equipment that may be lacking in seniors’ housing or long-term care facilities.

To find out how to apply for funding through the United Way, the place to start is the website – unitedwayabnw.org.

Better yet, the Government of Alberta will match any donations made to United Way, up to the end of May. How to donate? See above.
