Regarding the accusation (in a recent letter to the editor) that Peace River-Westlock MP Arnold Viersen doesn’t spend enough time in his riding: we’re not sure if he does or doesn’t. What we do know is he was here last week, hosting a couple of round-table info sessions on the softwood lumber trade situation. One was in the Town of Slave Lake council chambers. Viersen told The Leader that reps from area mills were there, as well as local political leaders and others. They heard that a quota system for lumber (rather than tariffs) is a likely outcome.
Viersen also said he will be visiting several other communities and events in the riding during the coming week or two.
