Volunteers cook for the homeless

Leader staff

The Slave Lake Homeless Coalition Society serves supper and breakfast to people experiencing homelessness seven days a week. All of the food is prepared by volunteers. Pat Potvin organizes the food. However, somehow he escaped being captured by the photographer.

The Coalition released the following statistics from so far in 2023. Volunteers have made the following food – 144 sandwiches between Jan. 10 to 19 and 291 meals. These were made by seven volunteers (plus Potvin) for a total of 66.5 volunteer hours.

Five of the volunteers are in the picture. Terry Kristoff and MJ Munn-Kristoff also volunteered. The Slave Lake Native Friendship Centre donates the use of its kitchen for the volunteers.
