Waterline replacement underway in SE Slave Lake

Folks on 6th St. SE and 12th Ave. (same street, but it turns from a street to an avenue when it bends west) are facing a bit of inconvenience, as a new water line is installed. Construction on it started last week.

Residents will, however, have access to their driveways during construction, we’re told. How it works depends on which side of the street you live on.

On the west (and then north) side of the street, driveway access will be maintained at all times. However, due to traffic management plans, only northbound traffic is permitted. Residents approaching from the north will need to take a short detour to reach their homes.

On the east (and then south) side of the street, driveway access will be temporarily interrupted during trenching and pipe installation. As the work progresses, the contractor will backfill the trench behind them, restoring access to driveways as each section is completed.

Access is only from the south – same as on the other side of the street.

“Every effort will be made to minimize disruption and ensure timely restoration of access,” said the town.
