Wild Rose Studio: a local mothers journey from hobby to career

Karina Gramiak, owner of Wild Rose Studios, first began taking photos eight years ago in 2018. As a young mom without a Grade Twelve Diploma, she says she needed something to do for herself. She recalls picking up an old camera and practicing on her daughter and dog. Before long, Gramiak was asking friends and family to model for her. He passion for photography quickly grew into a passion.

As her business has grown, Gramiak says that her growing business has allowed her to learn her likes and dislikes along the way.

Her greatest passion, is boudoir photography. “I love showing women how beautiful they are, just the way they are,” she says.

Gramiak says the loss of her brother ignited her passion for family photography. She says the lost reminded he how important family photos. “It’s important to hire a professional to capture those memories,” she says. Gramiak hires a professional photographer each year to photograph her own family.

“There’s really no right or wrong when it comes to photography,” Gramiak says. In her experience, art is subjective. “It’s all about what looks good,” she says. “You can’t fail at photography.”

Wild Rose Studio was inspired by her daughters’ middle named and their shared wild nature. She says the name isn’t related to the Alberta Provincial flower.

When she first started out in photography, Gramiak says she thought she had to offer every type of photography. She has since found that the best way forward is to follow her passion.

Gramiaks’ work can be found on her Facebook page, Wild Rose Studio.
