Youth arrest for using bear spray at Riverboat Daze

On July 6th, 2024, at approximately 10 p.m., Slave Lake RCMP were notified of a disturbance at the Slave Lake fair grounds. Officers were informed that an individual had discharged bear spray among the fairgoers and fled the scene. Thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of Slave Lake RCMP a thorough investigation was conducted. The suspect involved in this incident was quickly identified and apprehended without further issues.
One youth was charged with the following offences:
– assault with a weapon (x 9)
– possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
– mischief
Due to the age of the persons involved, no further information will be released.
Your Slave Lake RCMP would like to extend its gratitude to the Slave Lake Fire and EMS teams for their immediate response. A specialized treatment area was established to provide care to all those affected. We would also like to thank members of the public who provided critical assistance during the incident. Your cooperation and quick thinking were instrumental in bringing this situation to a quick resolution.
